Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. This is a natural characteristic for a girl from Irish origin, and that was surrounded during her early years by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion of "The Shamrock Rovers," famous Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen excelled at sports and loved rough games. This naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. She was awarded nearly every Feis Award for Theater and Drama which her nation had to give. By age 14 she was admitted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre along with operatic music.
